5 Yellow	South 157.6° - 202.5°	This year, the South is afflicted with the negative energies of the #5 Yellow Star. Avoid using this area of your home or office where possible. 2 (Black)	Northwest	As the #2 Black has flown into the Northwest this year, try to avoid using this area. The negative influences of this Star may bring upon illnesses and nagging health complications. Occupants who are Gua #7 or #4 should be especially careful in the Northwest and pregnant ladies in particular should avoid this sector. There is, however, the potential for real estate and property gains for those who are Gua #8 and possible career changes for those who are Gua #3. Cure: Place metal objects made of copper, brass, bonze or pewter will help weaken the negative Qi in this area. The best remedy, however, is to avoid the Northwest sector altogether.
6 (White)	North	If your contributions have been overlooked in the office or you are looking to climb up the corporate ladder, try and make use of the North area of your home or office in 2008. As a drawback, however, the general benevolent influence of the #6 White in this sector may at times cause medical complications to the kidneys and the legs. Changes in your work environment may possibly occur as well. Do take note that the North is not helpful for those with the Gua # 9. In 2008, however, the Grand Duke resides in the North so make sure you do not sit facing this direction to avoid mishaps.
5 (Yellow)	South	Regarded as the most dangerous sector for the year of the Earth Rat. Avoid undertaking important activities in this sector of your home or business. Refrain from doing any renovations or ground breaking in this area as well. If this sector is inadvertently activated, beware of accidents, obstacles and mishaps that may befall you. Cure: It is best to keep this area quiet and inactive. Avoid using this area for any extended period of time. Use metal objects made of copper, brass, or iron to weaken this Star. A wind chime is also a great cure for this negative Star. Make sure you do not pound a nail in this area when placing a wind chime.
9 (Purple)	Southeast	This star signifies new ventures, new beginnings and general happy events. For those with Gua # 9 and #1, may find the ability to tap into their potential by utilizing the southeast sector. Activate: Place Fire or Wood Element items in this area, e.g., green plants with red flowers or the color red.
7 (Red)	Southwest	This Star causes arguments and turbulent emotions. If you have existing medical complications and you are using this sector of your home or office, you might end up in the hospital this year, or possible surgery. Cure: Avoid this area altogether. Also, check your locks if your main or back doors are located in this sector of your home or office.
3 (Jade)	West	The #3 Jade Star has flown into the West sector for the year of the Earth Rat. This area should be avoided for the most part. The negative influences of star may bring result in constant arguments and bickering as well as heated disagreements. In extreme cases, the negative effects of the #3 Star may lead to legal complications and lawsuits. Those with Gua #3 should especially be careful in the West since the negativities are magnified twofold for them. Cure: Weaken this star by placing an oil lamp or bright red items in this sector for 2008. A red lamp shade is also effective.
4 (Green)	Northeast	For the year 2008, you may find that those in the Northeast excel in the area of studies and scholarly pursuits. Academicians, researchers, and writers will also find satisfaction in their work if they use the Northeast sector of their property.
